JHS Smiley Fuzz Face: 10 tips for Vox AC15
The AC15c1 and a great Fuzz Face is a fantastic combination. However, a lot of people run into certain situations where they get less than optimal results from this pairing. In this video, I'm giving you my Top 10 Tips for using a Fuzz Face style pedal with a Vox amplifier. In this case, I am using the JHS Legends Of Fuzz Smiley.
I'm a Stringjoy artist, and play their set of Broadways on all my Electric guitars.
I play the 10/13.5/17/28/38/50 on all my Gibson and Epiphone. I play the 9.5/13/16/26/36/48 on my Strat and Telecaster.

Uni-Vibe before or after pedals?: JHS Unicorn V2
Переглядів 425День тому
I've always wanted to try a Uni-Vibe. Back in the 90's and early 2000's they were expensive and kind of rare. So, I ended up forgetting about the idea of getting a Uni-Vibe and settled with Phasers and Chorus pedals instead. Lately, I've been on a Uni-Vibe kick, so I reached out to the kind folks at JHS pedals, and asked if they were interested in sending one my way. They obliged and sent their...

My main issue with the Tube 15 is the utter lack of a headphone out. I'm afraid to use the speaker out, so I'm leaving my headphones plugged into my old solid state Hiwatt for some night-time playing; otherwise I'm absolutely enthusiast about this little beast. :)

I just watched a 2 year old video here titled "Rockman Sound In A Pedal - GOAT Analog Distortion Generator Demo". I'd post the link, but UA-cam seems to flag any comment with a URL in it as spam, even if it's one of their own links. It's a pedal that's pretty much a clone of the Rockman Distortion Generator half-rack unit. You'll notice that when he turns the notch filter on and off (the switch labeled Phase), that's the key to the Rockman sound, and possibly the legacy Boston sound on the first two albums. "Notch filter", aka: parametric EQ. I'm not sure who made those as a pedal back in the 70s, perhaps MXR? But, it would seem to me that you could expand your test with that Berkley pedal and your amp, by inserting a parametric EQ after the Berkley pedal. From that point, it's a matter of finding the center frequency, width, and dB cut. I'll just bet you that you can achieve that Rockman sound without any digital equipment. Of course, to get the full meal deal, you'd also need a compressor & gate pedal at the beginning of the chain like the Rockmans always have.

A compressor might increase the noise floor. Plus, a fuzz is typically already pretty compressed, so the results may vary. It's still worth experimenting with. You never know.

Hi, nice demo, thanks. Looks like your looper is at the end of your effects chain, are you playing direct into the input? I always found an issue with my looper was if you set up and played a clean loop and then put some dirt or other pedal on for a solo or change of sound, the looped track changed tone totally too so I placed my looper (Ditto mini) in the effects loop. I've just bought a NUX as my Ditto has stopped working, about 5 years old but these drum tracks sound great, headphones too and great looking looper. Thanks again for the great review

I couldn’t figure out why anyone would want to pay more money for a pedal with fewer features, so I of course went with the FZ-2. I had no idea until a few years ago that these are collectors items.

I bought a AC15C1 head recently for $500 on reverb, it's for home use but has the reactive attenuator which allows you to dial 15watts down to 7 or a .02watts. I also have a cabinet with a relatively low sensitivity speaker - a greenback, another with a Avatar A25 (Celestion blue type), and a third with a Vintage 30 - which supposedly sound great with Vox. I also have the AC10C1, and a wonderful clone: JMI AC10 head with EF86 channel, but the AC10C1 got me hooked on the Vox sound, top boost it is. I have some great sounding old amps, but usually play through my Vox heads.

Hooked up my mxr 134 stereo chorus to my AC15(dry) and my Fender Pro jr IV(wet) Sounded awesome, but the AC15 is the one amp I use live, so I ran the stereo chorus into the Normal channel (wet) and ran the Top Boost (dry) Sounds like a stereo rig, the bucket-brigade chips give much welcome warmth to the AC15, and it sounds loud, clear and awesome AC15 players should try my stereo chorus hack!✌️

I had the Tumnus deluxe and the Gold and Silver archers. returned Tumnus Deluxe immediately as it had some boomy low end I couldn't dial out. Kept the Archers, the silver had very musical overtones but removed too much bass. The gold sounded more harsh but with better EQ. Ended up selling both of them. The ideal combination would have been the silver but with a bit more low end. In this demo (and others) the horseman does sound different and not so nice imho. More fizzy overall, muddy low end, meh.

Bright Day as in BD for Blues Driver, as far as I can tell.

@@TheToneLounge I'd be willing to bet that's a Morning Glory clone. It doesn't sound like a BD-2 through my headphones. However, it's a cheap phone and even cheaper headphones, coupled with UA-cam compression...who knows! Still, it has that bright and sparkly quality of a Morning Glory and is lower gain than a BD-2.

@@TheToneLounge I checked out another demo and it sounded totally different! Lol

@@mattgilbert7347 You could be right. I did a comparison between this and the BD-2W (which is set to come out in a few weeks) and to me they were impossible to tell apart.

Unfortunately, I´ve read more comments like these on different YT bass channels and even the Deadbeat studios YT channel host tried it out and the same thing happened JOYO needs to solve that issue ASAP.

If I got this superbeetle amp I would want a DI out, Effects Loop and option for extension cab I am all for this style of amp but can't justify the price for a home only option.

Vox only seems to reserve the FX loop for the AC30, and I can't figure out why.
